Patient Cooperation and Wooden Nickel Program

Outstanding orthodontic results can only be achieved with excellent patient compliance.
Our wooden nickel program is a motivational reward system to encourage excellent oral hygiene and patient cooperation. Excellent oral hygiene while in orthodontic treatment prevents decalcification (white marks on the teeth), tooth decay and unhealthy gums.

Wooden Nickels are earned at each scheduled appointment when you receive a score of excellent in four areas of cooperation! A fifth Wooden Nickel is earned by wearing your Dr. Lenz tee shirt to your appointment. Your Wooden Nickels can be spent immediately for prizes or collected and redeemed at a later time. Items to be purchased are displayed on our prize board. Our prize board is constantly changing so be sure to check it frequently!

To achieve the beautiful, healthy smile you, Dr. Lenz and our team are all working towards and to earn your wooden nickels be sure to always:

• Always maintain excellent oral health. Brush and floss your teeth and gums three times each day, especially after meals or snacks. You must earn a score of 4 or 5 on the Crest Ortho Essentials Score Card to receive any wooden nickels at each appointment.
• Wear your rubber bands, headgear or other removable appliances faithfully as directed by Dr. Lenz and our team.
• Be careful of what you eat and drink and where you place your removable appliances and retainers! No lost or broken appliances, braces or retainers!
• Be on time for your appointment! Call our office as soon as possible if you must change an appointment and always call ahead of time if you have something loose or broken. All patients will have some appointments during school hours.
• Wear your Dr. Lenz tee shirt to each appointment!

It is very important to maintain regular dental exams and hygiene appointments with your family dentist during your orthodontic treatment. You will receive five BONUS Wooden Nickels each time you bring a signed Sparking Clean Card from your hygiene appointment.

Remember, the greatest reward of all will be a beautiful, healthy smile at the end of your orthodontic treatment!!
